Optimism’s growing in our country

Editor:

President Barack Obama in his State of the Union address gave us leadership we can believe in, have hope in and know that we have a government that cares about us — the people of this great country.

It is easy to see why President Obama’s ratings are growing in the polls. He is a natural leader, strong, uniting and a noble statesman. We can now have hope that the United States of America will get back on its feet after the last administration’s folly to take us into war, de-regulate big business, destroy our economy through greed and corruption and put the wellbeing of 98 percent of the people last while giving tax cuts to the wealthiest 2 percent of the population.

The American people can have hope again. President Obama reached across the aisle as Republicans and Democrats sat side by side, perhaps a token move, but a move toward working together.

The president put forth an agenda to bring our troops home, create jobs, strengthen the economy, cut the deficit, support renewable energy development and educate our children so that their future is on course for success in a modern world.

President Obama set an example for all of us to stand above the negative and small-minded hatefulness that stirs about in this country. The United States is finding its way out of the wilderness and back to the light. Hallelujah!
