SENECA — More than 150,000 troops are serving overseas and away from their friends and families. Cell Phones for Soldiers and the Oconee County Democratic Party are asking for continued support of these men and women by donating used cell phones.
Cell phones and accessories may be donated at the Oconee Democratic Party booth at SenecaFest, May 28 to 29. The cell phones will be recycled for cash, and the proceeds used to buy prepaid calling cards for soldiers serving in the Middle East.
“We are proud to show our support for U.S. soldiers and to contribute to a worthy cause like Cell Phones for Soldiers,” said Marilyn Hemingway, Oconee County Democratic chairperson.
Founded in 2004, Cell Phones for Soldiers has raised more than $1 million in donations and distributed more than one million prepaid calling cards to men and women serving in the Middle East.
