About 165 D
emocrats attended the 4th Annual FUN-draiser picnic at So. Cove Park, Seneca on June 12, 2016.
There was a record crowd!  SC Representative Gilda Cobb-Hunter was our guest of honor and keynote speaker. She spoke eloquently about the challenges facing our
Democratic legislators in Columbia. Mr. Hosea Cleveland, the Democratic candidate for Congress in the third Congressional district, currently held by Jeff Duncan, spoke about his commitment to represent the real interests of the people of this region and emphasized his roots in Oconee County.

Party Chair, Paulette Keffas-Chassin gave a rousing introduction and outlined the commitment of the OCDP to present candidates who will stand for local offices in future years so that the voters of our county will have options, rather than simply unopposed incumbents.  She also announced that more than 200 tickets had been sold for the picnic, generating gross revenue of $4,000 ensuring that the party can keep its office in Seneca open through the next year.

For the fourth consecutive year, music at the picnic was provided by the  well known band, The Wobblers, who brought guests to their feet!  New entertainers in 2016 were the Evett Sisters, a group of talented local gospel singers who were the hit of the afternoon.  Together they delighted the party-goers, who clearly enjoyed the occasion despite the heat of a Seneca summer afternoon.

The homemade prepared food was truly delicious this year: fried chicken, dill potato salad, three bean salad, baked beans, grilled corn on the cob, and the star attraction: Carl's specially home smoked pork BBQ!

A great time was had by all and the funds were indeed raised!
We thank all our generous Oconee members.
